About Me

Independent Support Coordinator and Psychosocial Recovery Coach based in Geelong, Vic

My story

I am Melinda Seitshiro, a Geelong-based independent Support Coordinator and Psychosocial Recovery Coach, specialising in mental health services and NDIS participant support. Having spent several years working in the hairdressing industry as well as in the disability and community services industry, I have extended experience supporting people within and around my local area.

I have a diploma in Case Management Community Services, giving me skills in support coordination, disability management, and communication. I hold a certificate (IV) in Mental Health and am also an accredited mental health first aider. My interdisciplinary approach towards mental health and disability support means I can offer a well-rounded support service and am qualified to deal with a wide variety of healthcare scenarios and aims.

My mission

I have a passion for supporting people and helping them to live their lives to the fullest. I believe that everyone, no matter their life situation, deserves the chance to reach towards their goals. It’s my mission to support NDIS participants as an Independent Support Coordinator, so that every individual gets the same opportunities and chances to grow. My work as a Psychosocial Recovery Coach is an extension of this, focused on developing recovery-enabling relationships with participants and guiding them through everything from NDIS documentation to recovery planning.

Having spent several years working in various community services in and around the Geelong, Vic area, I recognised that there was an acute lack of specialist NDIS support. This drove me to complete my diploma and establish myself as a Support Coordinator. Providing personalised and professional support, I help NDIS participants get the most of their NDIS plans, whether that’s reaching towards a short-term goal or developing comprehensive, long-term strategies.

My vision

My aim is to help NDIS participants flourish as individuals, and to gain confidence in their own abilities. I work together with my participants to build meaningful relationships based in self-belief, kindness, and positivity, allowing for mutual personal development and growth. Each of these values provides the foundation for my practice.

Self-belief: Too often, participants in the NDIS scheme are treated with condescension and disrespect. I work with my participants to establish a foundation of self-belief, which helps them recognise their value and potential for growth.

Kindness: While I provide a professional service, I understand the simple but essential importance of kindness. I recognise and work to mitigate the feeling of intrusion that participants might feel when taking on a Support Coordinator. I create a warm, friendly environment for all my participants.

Positivity: With positivity comes growth. By maintaining a positive and realistic outlook on participant goals, I help individuals develop their own self-belief.
